Aly Raisman to be welcomed home with Needham rally

Massachusetts will be giving Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman a warm welcome home Saturday.

Raisman’s hometown, Needham, will hold a rally at 11 a.m. in Town Common. It will be followed by an interview with Mike Riley, a WBZ-AM sports anchor, on the steps of the Town Hall, Sandy Cincotta, the support services manager for the board of selectmen, told The Boston Globe.

The town hosted a parade and rally when the now-22-year-old returned from the 2012 London Olympics, but this year the town eliminated the parade for the Q&A session.

“We’re all still riding on the high from 2012,” Cincotta told the Globe. “Everyone is just so happy, and Needham gets really excited about our hometown heroes.”

Raisman won silver medals in the women’s floor exercise and women’s individual all-around, and a gold medal as part of the Final Five team while in Rio.
