Simone Biles said she’s ‘more proud’ of Aly Raisman getting silver than her gold
Simone Biles and Aly Raisman’s friendship has been put on a podium in more ways than one this week.
Known “BFFs” and U.S. women’s gymnastics teammates, Biles and Raisman, both won gold and silver, respectively, during the gymnastics individual all-around final Thursday.
After her win, Simone Biles told ESPN she was “more proud of Aly getting silver than [her] gold.”
“She’s worked so incredibly hard during her comeback,” Biles said. “She’s one of my role models, and I don’t think there’s anyone I’d rather share the podium with. I’m more happy for her than I am myself.”
Raisman shared Biles’s “sweet” quote in an Instagram Friday, writing that they are “so lucky to have such a special and rare friendship.”

Raisman added to ESPN that she knows Biles deserves her newly cemented legacy as possibly the greatest of all time, and spoke to how they supported each other throughout the competition.
“I know I can’t beat her, so we’re not competitive with each other,” Raisman said. “We’re lucky we have each other. We kept hugging and saying we love each other. It’s so nerve-wracking. Sometimes you just need a little love.”
Talk about friendship goals.
