‘The Onion’ riffs on Boston losing Olympic bid

It was only a matter of time until The Onion chimed in.

The satirical news site talked to Bostonians on the street Tuesday to get their takes on Boston’s failed Olympic bid.

While “Mason Stuckley’’ wondered if the pulled bid opened the door for New York’s capital: “Did they mention anything about Albany 2024?’’

In addition to the man-on-the-street interviews, The Onion looked at more general Olympic spending, including $300 million for a “regulation track-and-field stadium the entire community will be able to enjoy for decades to come’’ and $175,000 for a “study delineating exact ways hosting Olympics will devastate local economy for decades to come.’’

In more pressing matters, the site recently posted this alarming story, “Scientists Warn Planet Cannot Support Growing Gronkowski Population.’’
