Boston 2024 chairman could step down

A plan to revamp Boston 2024 calls for chairman John Fish (center) to hand the reins to Steve Pagliuca (left), and for new advisers, including Red Sox executive Larry Lucchino. GLOBE STAFF

A proposed reorganization of the Olympics group Boston 2024 would see current head John Fish handing the reins to Bain Capital executive and Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca, The Boston Globe reports.

In addition, The Globe said that Red Sox president and chief executive Larry Lucchino and Boston businessman Jack Connors would join the city’s bid effort as strategic advisors to Boston 2024.

According to The Globe, these changes come after an “unsettling e-mail’’ sent to Boston’s bid organizers by the US Olympic Committee. Public support remains low for Boston’s Olympic bid—so low that the USOC had to deny rumors back in March that it would drop Boston’s bid entirely.
