Northeastern to Face Notre Dame in NCAA Tournament
The Northeastern Huskies now know the identity their first dance partners in 24 years: the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Northeastern was announced Sunday night as the 14-seed in the Midwest Division. They will face three-seed Notre Dame on Thursday at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
Northeastern last made the NCAA Tournament in 1991, when the 16-seeded Huskies found themselves on the wrong side of a 101-66 tilt against the University of North Carolina.
Northeastern beat William & Mary 72-61 on March 9 to win the Colonial Athletic Conference and its auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Huskies were seeded by a selection committee that included Northeastern athletic director Peter Roby, though he was not allowed to take part in seeding his employer.
The Huskies have compiled a 3-7 record in seven trips, making it past their opening game in 1981, 1982 and 1984.
Senior forward Scott Eatherton led the team in points per game this season with 14.6.
