Boston University’s David Quinn reportedly in line to become Rangers coach

Boston University men’s hockey coach David Quinn is expected to be named the next coach of the New York Rangers, according to multiple reports.
ESPN reported Quinn and the Rangers have discussed a five-year, $12 million contract.
Quinn, 51, has been Boston University’s coach since 2013, when he replaced longtime coach Jack Parker after Parker retired. Quinn played at BU in the 1980s under Parker, who coached from 1973 to 2013, and Quinn also served as an assistant coach at BU from 2004 to 2009.
As head coach, Quinn led BU to four straight NCAA tournament appearances from 2015 to 2018, won the 2015 Beanpot title, and led BU to a spot in the 2015 national championship game, where the Terriers lost to Providence.
The Rangers would be Quinn’s first job as an NHL head coach, although he was an assistant coach for the Colorado Avalanche and was a head coach in the AHL.
The Rangers fired coach Alain Vigneault in April after the Rangers missed the playoffs.
