After writing a letter with the hopes of bolstering Richard Seymour’s Hall of Fame candidacy a year ago, Tom Brady is supporting his former teammate once again as Seymour’s name is up for consideration in 2021.

This is Seymour’s third nomination, and Brady tweeted Tuesday morning that he still adamantly believes the former Patriots defensive end deserves a spot.

“I would love to see Richard Seymour inducted into NFL HOF,” Brady wrote. “Not only was he a dominant player but a team-first, selfless player who played championship fb each & every wk. He was a cornerstone of the Patriots dynasty & deserves to be recognized for his contributions to fb history.”

Seymour thanked Brady – whom he endearingly called “the goat” – and encouraged him to go win his seventh Super Bowl.

“You always make us proud! playing against you for 12 years made me better… if i wasn’t held by 2/3 guys on the helmet catch this would be #8 @elimanning,” Seymour tweeted shortly after Brady’s initial comment.

Seymour was a key member of three Super Bowl teams, made seven Pro Bowls, and recorded 57.5 sacks in his career.

The selection committee is scheduled to meet the Saturday before the Super Bowl to decide if Seymour and the other candidates are worthy. A minimum vote of 80 percent is necessary for election.
