What is the most memorable play in Patriots’ Super Bowl history?

This question didn’t come from a reader, but instead was asked by ubiquitous host Scott Hanson during Super Bowl Opening Night here Monday.

Three options were given to the crowd: Julian Edelman’s how-did-that-not-touch-the-ground? catch against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI; Malcolm Butler’s game-saving interception against the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX; and Adam Vinatieri’s winning 48-yard field goal to beat the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

The winner among the suckers/fans who paid to be in attendance at Opening Night surprised me. Edelman’s incredible catch won, with 64 percent of the vote.

There must have bene some recency bias at play there, because that would have been my third choice of the three.

It seems to me Butler’s pick, one of the most iconic plays in NFL history and one that stole victory from impending defeat, should have been the top choice.

And if not Butler’s pick, then Vinatieri’s field goal that got this whole dynasty thing started would have been acceptable choice.

Edelman’s catch was amazing. But it’s bronze-medal-level amazing in this poll. Gotta go Malcolm.

But what does everyone else think? What was the most memorable play in Patriots Super Bowl history? I’ll hear you in the comments.
