NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will be deposed in connection with quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s collusion claim against the league, ESPN reported Sunday morning.

Goodell will also turn over cellphone and e-mail records pertaining to the case, according to ESPN.

The commissioner joins at least two other league executives — executive vice president/football operations Troy Vincent and senior vice president of player engagement Arthur McAfee — and a handful of team owners — Cowboys’ Jerry Jones, Patriots’ Robert Kraft, Texans’ Bob McNair, Seahawks’ Paul Allen, and 49ers’ Jed York — who will be deposed in the case, ESPN reported.

Kaepernick filed a claim of collusion against the NFL last month after receiving no serious interest from any team over the last eight months. Kaepernick’s legal team has to prove that at least two teams, or one team and the league office, colluded against his employment.

While with the San Francisco 49ers last season, Kaepernick began kneeling during the playing of the national anthem before games to protest racial inequality and police brutality. In March, with the 49ers expected to release him, he opted out of his contract.
