Damien Woody calls the Giants offensive line’s protection ‘a fireable offense’
The New York football Giants are off to their worst start in the past five seasons. Next up for the 0-5 squad is a primetime matchup against the 3-1 Broncos, and it’s highly likely that they’ll come away from Denver still winless.
Not only are the Broncos listed as 10.5-point favorites, but the Giants also lost their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a broken ankle on Sunday. To make matters worse, Beckham was the not the first, not the second, not the third, but the fourth receiver to go down with an injury that day.
“Yeah, I mean, it significantly altered the game,” Giants head coach Ben McAdoo said after his team lost 27-22 to the Chargers. “We had one receiver left at the end of the ballgame.”
Even if New York had its full receiving corps in tow, however, the offensive line has not made it easy for quarterback Eli Manning to connect with his teammates. On Monday, former Patriots offensive lineman Damien Woody expressed his disdain for the group’s performance.
He quote-tweeted a clip of one of Manning’s five sacks from Sunday with the caption, “This is a fireable offense….my gawd,” and a face-palm emoji.
