The apparent end of Revis’ one-year stint with the Patriots came just hours after he became a free agent. The Patriots declined to pick up a contract option that would have kept him in New England for the 2015 season at the cost of a $25 million salary cap hit. After spendng the first six seasons of his career with the Jets, Revis played the 2013 season with the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. He joined the Patriots as a free agent before the 2014 campaign, and then helped the team hoist the Lombardi Trophy as Super Bowl XLIX champions.
