The Revolution will have an MLS All-Star after all, and it’s no surprise that New England’s playmaker-in-chief will represent his team at the league’s annual midseason event.

Carles Gil, the Revolution captain, was announced as an addition by MLS All-Star head coach Nico Estévez on Tuesday along with five other players to fill out the roster.

After Gil was initially passed over for All-Star selection during the voting process, New England head coach Caleb Porter called it a “travesty.” Yet with Gil now included, the Spaniard’s immense contributions to the Revolution in 2025 have been — at least partly — rewarded.

The 32-year-old is now set to make his fourth career MLS All Star appearance, tying former goalkeeper Matt Reis for third most in New England history behind only Shalrie Joseph (8) and Taylor Twellman (5).

Through 21 games, Gil has done all that he can to keep New England in the playoff race. He has 15 total goal contributions: Seven goals and eight assists.

“I love this team. I love Boston,” Gil told reporters on Tuesday. “I love everything, so I’m going to try my best to represent my team.”

After a busy buildup to the event (with games coming on Wednesday against the Red Bulls and Saturday at home vs. Orlando City), the Revolution will then send Gil to the All-Star festivities.
