Stefon Diggs told reporters that he plans to remain with the Patriots next season, while also acknowledging that the decision isn’t completely up to him.

“[Expletive], unless they opt out of the contract,” Diggs said. “I anticipate being here. I hope so. Love my guys. Hell of a year playing with them. We built some real family-like bonds, so I hope so. I don’t control it.”

Diggs signed a three-year deal with the Patriots worth up to $69 million last offseason. He is under contract through the 2027 season.

The 32-year-old receiver emerged as an emotional leader for the Patriots this year, firing the team up with pregame speeches. He popularized the phrase “we all we got, we all we need” within the Patriots locker room. Other teams had used it before, but the Patriots took it an ran with it during this past playoff run.

He played in every single game despite undergoing offseason ACL surgery. He finished the regular-season with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He had 14 catches for 110 yards and one touchdown during the postseason.

He has a court date set for this Friday after he returns to Massachusetts. He is facing charges of assault and strangulation over an alleged incident with a personal chef. He has denied the allegations and the Patriots said they support him.

Diggs had three catches for 37 yards in the loss on Sunday. The Patriots’ offense played one of its worst games of the season.

“We struggled. There’s always some plays you want to get back,” Diggs said. “We didn’t play our best. My initial reaction is that we lost. Got to deal with it, take it on the chin.”

The Patriots finished their season at the Super Bowl after going 4-13 the year prior. Diggs said being a part of the big turnaround made him proud.

“I’m proud of the guys, proud of my teammates,” Diggs said. “I wish things could have went another way, but can’t do nothing about it now. Hell of a season to our guys.”

New England is Diggs’s fourth stop in the NFL. He said he’s enjoying his time with the Patriots.

“I treat it all the same. My other stops, had a hell of a time in Minnesota, hell of a time in Buffalo, hell of a time in Houston,” Diggs said. “I wouldn’t compare and contrast. Comparison is the thief of joy. I had a good time in all those places. Did it work out? No, but I’m happy where I’m at right now and embracing what I’ve got going on here so I’m just super grateful.”
