From TreVeyon Henderson to offensive tackle depth, injuries are piling up for the Patriots

Sunday night's physical matchup in Baltimore left the Patriots banged up.

TreVeyon Henderson played just 14 offensive snaps on Sunday, leaving the game early with a head injury in the second quarter.

The mark tied a season-low for the rookie, and was one of several injuries the Patriots sustained during their win. Henderson was initially listed as questionable to return before being downgraded to out.

Coach Mike Vrabel did not have further updates after the game. There’s a chance Henderson could go through concussion protocol this week, though the Patriots have not yet said whether or not that will be the case.

Offensive tackle depth continues to be a concern for New England. Morgan Moses briefly left the game with a knee injury in the first quarter. So did Thayer Munford Jr. after subbing in for Moses.

Both players returned to the game and were able to finish, but it was a reminder that the Patriots were already thin at tackle with No. 4 overall pick Will Campbell on IR. Moses is 34 and in his 12th season on in the league, and the Patriots are relying on him to stay healthy. Behind him, the Patriots get much younger and more inexperienced really quickly at tackle. They were already working with Vederian Lowe at left tackle instead of Campbell.

Reinforcements could be on the way. Tuesday will mark one month since Campbell was placed on injured reserve. Milton Williams has been out since Nov. 13. Robert Spillane has missed a couple of games.

But, on Sunday, the injuries kept piling up for New England. DeMario Douglas left with a hamstring injury. The speedy slot receiver has had at least one explosive play of 20-plus yards in five of his last six games.

The defensive front took some hits, too. Rookie defensive tackle Joshua Farmer (hamstring) and nose guard/short yardage fullback Khyiris Tonga (foot) also left the Ravens game early.

Stefon Diggs briefly spent time in the blue medical tent, but returned to the game and ultimately posted a team-high nine catches for 138 yards. He mentioned grabbing his shoulder while he was in the tent, but also noted that the medical staff thought there could have been a head injury involved. Diggs does not yet have an injury designation.

New England will be on the road against the Jets this week. With a playoff appearance clinched and the holiday-season in full swing, good health will almost certainly be on New England’s wish-list.
