Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett had a dominant performance on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, setting a franchise record with five sacks against the New England Patriots.
But Garrett — who also strip-sacked Drake Maye while posting five QB hits and five tackles for a loss — was candid about his individual performance on a day where the Patriots still defeated Cleveland, 32-13.
“I would throw the whole performance away for a win,” Garrett declared postgame.
One of the top matchups entering Sunday was how an All-Pro talent and former Defensive Player of the Year in Garrett would match up against New England’s rookie left tackle, Will Campbell.
Campbell and the Patriots’ offensive line as a whole has held its own this season, but a bout against Garrett and a top-ranked Cleveland defense was expected to be that unit’s toughest test so far in 2025.
As expected, Garrett got the better of Campbell in some of his matchups, with two of his sacks against Maye coming after beating Campbell while exploding off the line of scrimmage.
But, even with Campbell taking some expected lumps against one of the league’s top defensive talents, Garrett was impressed with what he saw from the Patriots’ young left tackle.
“He’s strong,” Garrett said of Campbell. “You want to set the tempo and the pace of the game with power. He was able to be pretty firm in his stance and keep me from knocking him back. Just trying to hit him with different looks, try to keep him off guard.
“I watched a lot of tape of him versus [then Alabama pass rusher] Will Anderson [in college] and I know he had a difficult time with Will, and I consider that my little bro. I had to try to take some things out of his book and work them into mine to have success.”
Will Campbell got some praise from Myles Garrett and finished with a 71.4 PFF grade on the day.

Despite Campbell struggling at times against Garrett, Mike Vrabel acknowledged on Monday that Campbell’s up-and-down performance tends to be the standard when even the stoutest offensive linemen have to try and slow down Cleveland’s top player.
Garrett also beat fellow rookie Jared Wilson — along with veterans Morgan Moses and tight end Hunter Henry — for sacks on Sunday.
“It’s always a challenge when you play Myles Garrett,” Vrabel acknowledged. “It’s hard to recreate that speed. What are we going to do on the show team? Who do we have? If we did, they wouldn’t be on the show team. There were some good plays, good blocks, Patience, closing the space. He did a good job in the run game. And then some plays that we would like to have back. That’s what happens.”
Despite all the damage that Garrett doled out against Maye on Sunday, the Patriots’ second-year QB managed to get the better of Cleveland’s top-ranked defense at Gillette Stadium.
The Browns’ defense — which entered the game allowing just 16.1 points per game (the third-lowest mark in the NFL) — gave up 32 points and 422 yards on Sunday, with Maye and the Patriots generating 16 plays of 10-plus yards in the win.
Speaking after the game, Garrett also had plenty of praise toward Maye — who completed 18-of-24 throws for three touchdowns, one interception and 332 total yards of offense against the Browns.
“I think he is a great human being,” Garrett said. “I think he is a good quarterback who is soon to be a great quarterback. I like how he’s grown. I know it’s nice to be a part of his journey. Hate to be on this end of it, but it’s nice to see how he’s leading his team. He’s helped them rebuild into what they are now, so, in a way, I’m proud of him, and I’m happy to see his success.”
