Christian Gonzalez headlines Patriots’ first injury report of the season
Gonzalez (hamstring) did not participate at practice on Wednesday.
The Patriots released their first injury report of the regular-season on Wednesday night.
Cornerback Christian Gonzalez was the only New England starter on the list. He missed Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring injury.
Gonzalez has been out for more than a month, and he hasn’t practiced at all this week, but coach Mike Vrabel hasn’t ruled the third-year cornerback out for Sunday’s game just yet.
“He’s continuing to work, and he’ll do some stuff on the side, but I’m not going to rule anybody out,” Vrabel said. “We’ll continue to work and treat and make sure that we’re doing everything that we can to help him, and he’s doing everything he can to get back out on the field.”
Vrabel highlighted Gonzalez’s ability to stay focused in meetings, despite not being able to practice.
“I mean, I do like where he’s at from an engagement standpoint,” Vrabel said. “We’ve been through this with other players, and I like where he’s at from that standpoint. In the meetings, locked in, following along at practice, which is difficult. To think that a player that’s not in there can follow along, I’ve been through that as a player and a coach, and I think he’s done a nice job of being able to do that.
Patriots cornerback Charles Woods (knee) was a limited participant at practice on Wednesday. Wide receiver Efton Chism (knee) was able to fully participate.
Stefon Diggs, who had surgery to repair a torn ACL this offseason, was not listed on the injury report indicating that he is expected to be available for Sunday’s game, barring unforseen circumstances. He told reporters that he hopes he will not have limitations set on how much he’ll play.
The Raiders listed two players, cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly and quarterback Kenny Pickett with hamstring injuries. Both players were full participants at Las Vegas’s practice on Wednesday.
