The Patriots are worth around $1.3 billion more than they were last year, according to sports business outlet Sportico, but that did nothing to change their spot in this year’s rankings of the most valuable NFL franchises.
For the third year in a row, the Patriots finished fourth on Sportico’s list. They trailed the Cowboys, Rams, and Giants this year. New England was ranked No. 2 back in 2022.
The Cowboys have been steady at No. 1, holding that spot for five years in a row. Sportico estimates the Dallas franchise is worth $12.8 billion, roughly double the $6.4 billion-dollar estimate they had in 2020.
The Patriots came in at $8.76 billion this year, ahead of every other team in the AFC. The closest AFC teams to New England were division rivals Miami and New York (Jets), which were seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Patriots enjoyed a 20 percent year over year increase in valuation, which was the smallest increase of the teams in the top-5. New England has the most Super Bowl titles of any franchise since 2000, but has struggled on the field in recent years. The Patriots are coming off of back-to-back 4-13 seasons.
Those struggles netted the Patriots a pair of top-5 picks, which they used to take quarterback Drake Maye and left-tackle Will Campbell in hopes of breathing new life into one of the league’s worst offenses. The Patriots are on their third head coach in three years, a sign of a franchise in transition.
The Patriots are doing well financially, though, according to Sportico, which has consistently ranked them among the most valuable franchises in the NFL.
