FOXBOROUGH – When Tom Brady arrived in Foxborough as a rookie fourth-string quarterback, he was too busy focusing on making the team to dream of one day having his likeness etched in bronze outside of a stadium.

But after two decades with the Patriots and six Super Bowl victories, a 12-foot bronze statue of the legendary quarterback now stands at Gillette Stadium, which wasn’t even open during Brady’s rookie year.

“More than the record and rings, Tom gave us moments that felt timeless,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said. ” Sundays became sacred. Families gathered. Generations shared together. Tom and the Patriots brought millions of people together and brought great pride to Patriot Nation.

“Tommy, you have not only etched your name in Patriots history, you have etched it in all of our hearts and now your likeness will forever stand tall here at Gillette Stadium just like you did.”

The Patriots enlisted Jeff Buccacio, a Natick native and lifelong Patriots fan, to design the sculpture. His team spent more than 20,000 hours working on it, according to a release from the team.

Here are some key facts and figures about the statue.

-The overall height of the statue, base included, is 17 feet. The number represents the 17 AFC East division titles that the Patriots won with Brady as quarterback.

-The head-to-toe figure height of Brady within it is 12 feet, which represents his jersey number. The Patriots retired Brady’s No. 12 during the summer of 2024.

-The statue is made of 12,300 pounds of bronze. The figure weighs 1,800 pounds, and the granite base is 10,500 pounds. In total, it weighs around 6.15 tons.

-The shape of the base is a hexagon. The six-sided shape represents Brady’s six Super Bowl victories and the six New England states. The granite base was quarried in Vermont.

-The location of the statue is in the Patriot Place Plaza, which is adjacent to the Patriots Hall of Fame.

-Brady is depicted in what the team calls a “victory pose” with one fist in the air and the other hand gripping the facemask of his helmet. It’s not tied to a particular moment, but rather several victories during Brady’s career.

-Kraft said he wanted the statue to be “larger than life, just like Tommy is.”

-The statue was unveiled on August 8th, 2025, an hour and a half before the Patriots kicked off the preseason against the Commanders and five days after Brady’s 48th birthday.
