Hall-of-Fame receiver Randy Moss is set to return to ESPN full-time this fall, according to a report from The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand.

Moss, who was diagnosed with cancer in last December, took some time off last season to focus on his recovery. He is expected to return to “Sunday NFL Countdown” when the season begins. He made an on-air appearance on Super Bowl Sunday last february.

“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN told The Athletic in a statement.”

Moss announced the diagnosis on Instagram last summer, saying that a cancerous mass had been found in his bile duct.

According to the Associated Press, Moss had a Whipple procedure which “involves removing the head of the pancreas, part of the small intestine, the gallbladder and the bile duct” to remove the cancer.

Moss, 48, has been with ESPN for a decade. He is an analyst for the network. According to the report, Moss is doing well enough in his recovery to participate in the broadcasts every Sunday.

One of the most prolific receivers in NFL history, Moss was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. He set the single-season record for most touchdown catches (23) in 2007 while he was with the Patriots. Moss spent three full seasons with the Patriots and was traded four games into his fourth season with the team.

Moss spent the bulk of his career with the Minnesota Vikings, with whom he had two stints. He finished his playing career in 2012 after one season with the 49ers.

Moss is fourth on the all-time NFL list for receiving yards, second in touchdown receptions, and 17th in total catches.
