Longtime Patriots offensive lineman David Andrews is retiring, the team announced on social media Wednesday afternoon.

There is a press conference scheduled for Monday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.

Andrews, 32, played his entire decade-long career with the Patriots after signing as an undrafted free-agent out of Georgia ahead of the 2015 season. He eventually emerged as the team’s starting center.

He was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams, and was a team captain for multiple seasons.

The Patriots released Andrews in March. Andrews said he was shocked by the move. He played in just four games before a shoulder injury ended his season, but he had played in all 17 games the year before and had some hope that he could still contribute to the team.

“No one wants to get fired, even from the real world. I definitely respect their decision. Do I like it? No,” Andrews said at the time. “I thought I could provide value. I was hoping that I could try to play and just try to get the ship in the right direction and help the organization and the community.”

New England decided to move in a new direction ahead of Mike Vrabel’s first year as head coach of the club.

Andrews started 121 of the 124 games he played during his decade with the Patriots. Last year, he showed an interest in sports media, co-hosting the Quick Snap podcast with former Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer.
