The opening days of the Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament are often inundated with bracket-busting upsets, buzzer-beater threes, and thunderous slam dunks.
And sure enough, the son of former Patriots linebacker Rosevelt Colvin put an emphatic stamp on the first day of March Madness Thursday afternoon.
Myles Colvin, who plays for the No. 4 Purdue Boilermakers, provided the top highlight from his team’s opening-round win over No. 13 High Point was at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence.
The sophomore wing threw down the hammer in the closing minutes of the first half against High Point, gathering a missed three-point shot by Camden Heide and completing the put-back slam.

Colvin’s slam made the rounds on social media — with Sports Illustrated’s Pat Forde noting that it “may be the dunk of the entire tournament.”
“Myles Colvin just made ‘One Shining Moment’,” Purdue reporter Brian Neubert added on X.
Myles’ father was in attendance for Thursday’s game in Providence; Rosevelt also played his collegiate career at Purdue from 1995-98. The former linebacker eventually played with New England from 2003-07, helping the Patriots win back-to-back titles in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.
