Patriots’ Christian Gonzalez added to injury report, questionable to play vs. Dolphins

The Patriots’ Friday injury report noted one key addition: cornerback Christian Gonzalez is now questionable to play against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Gonzalez is dealing with a hip injury, according to New England. He was not on the injury report until Friday’s practice, where he was a limited participant.
The second-year corner hasn’t missed a game for the Patriots yet this season. His health has been no issue a year removed from his promising rookie year, which was cut short due to a shoulder injury.
This season, Gonzalez has been one of New England’s best defensive players, often tasked with shadowing opposing teams’ best receivers.
Gonzalez’s potential absence Sunday is even more notable considering his track record of success against Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, one of the game’s fastest and most difficult players to cover.
Gonzalez minimized Hill’s impact during his rookie season, and again in Week 5 of this year, and gained a lot of respect from the former All-Pro. After their latest matchup, Hill called Gonzalez “easily” a top-3 corner in the NFL right now.
The Dolphins have a dynamic receiving duo with Hill and Jaylen Waddle, so missing Gonzalez for that matchup would be a major blow to New England’s defense.
