NFL insider lists multiple Patriots as possible 49ers trade targets
Could Davon Godchaux and Kendrick Bourne be heading elsewhere?
Sitting at 1-6, and showing no signs of turning their season around, it’s looking likely that the Patriots could be sellers ahead of the Nov. 5 trade deadline.
But, as The Athletic’s Chad Graff pointed out, they don’t exactly have much to sell. Two veterans, however, could potentially intrigue one NFC perennial contender.
Davon Godchaux and Kendrick Bourne are both names to monitor, according to Graff’s colleague Dianna Russini. In a column Saturday about potential trade targets for the 49ers, Russini listed the defensive lineman Godchaux and wide receiver Bourne as potential options.
“I’ve been told to keep an eye on the Patriots — who will listen to any proposal — with run-stuffing interior defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and ex-Niners wide receiver Kendrick Bourne among the possible targets,” Russini wrote.
With lineman Javon Hargrave and receiver Brandon Aiyuk out for the season, the 49ers are in need of replacements.
Godchaux, 29, is in his fourth year with the Patriots after four with the Dolphins. He hasn’t missed a game since 2020 and has 26 tackles so far this season. In July, he signed a two-year extension worth up to $21 million with New England.
For what it’s worth, Hargrave is 6 feet, 2 inches, 305 pounds, and Godchaux is 6 feet, 3 inches, 311 pounds.
Bourne spent the first four years of his career with the 49ers from 2017-2020. He has 10 touchdowns in 44 games with the Patriots since 2021. Bourne missed part of last season due to an ACL injury and has eased his way back over the last three games.
In March, he signed a three-year deal that could be worth up to $33 million.
