Mina Kimes praises Patriots defense as one of the most ‘slept-on units’ in NFL
“They have studs at every level, they’re so well-coached.”
ESPN analyst Mina Kimes praised the Patriots’ defense on Thursday’s episode of “First Take” in a preview before the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Jets.
“One of the most slept-on units in the entire NFL is this Patriots defense,” she said. “They are for real, they have studs at every level, they’re so well-coached.”
Fellow analyst Dan Orlovsky chimed in, naming Jabrill Peppers, Kyle Dugger, and Keion White, who has four sacks just two games into the season and is being hailed as a defensive star in the making. Kimes then shouted out, “Keion White, you guys.”
Although New England’s defense put up a good fight against Seattle at Sunday’s home opener, it wasn’t enough to come away with a win. Following a shocking Week 1 upset against the Bengals and a disappointing overtime loss to the Seahawks, the Patriots take on the Jets at 8:15 p.m Thursday. Both teams hold a record of 1-1 thus far.
Aaron Rodgers struggled in his first game of the season when faced with a stout 49ers defense. The Patriots will look to slow him down in a similar way and take pressure off their own offense that’s been underwhelming through two weeks.
“I see this game being close and ugly,” Kimes said, “exactly how New England wants it.”
