‘Hundreds’ of Tom Brady’s former teammates expected at his Patriots Hall of Fame Ceremony (report)
Tom Brady's Hall of Fame Ceremony is reportedly expected to feature “many former teammates and special guests”.
Tom Brady will be the man of the hour on June 12 at Gillette Stadium for his induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
But he’ll be far from the only former Patriot on hand for the anticipated festivities in Foxborough.
In his latest Sunday notebook, ESPN’s Mike Reiss noted that former Patriots offensive lineman Damien Woody is “among the hundreds of former teammates of Brady who plan to be in attendance for Brady’s in-stadium sold-out induction” — which will serve as an extended tribute to Brady’s two-decade reign in New England.
Given that Brady and Bill Belichick stood as two of the few constants over unequaled run orchestrated by the Patriots, Brady’s Hall of Fame ceremony will also stand as an avenue for New England’s dynasty to be recognized and honored — leading to an anticipated reunion for many former players.
While plenty of the details surrounding Brady’s ceremony have largely been kept under wraps, Reiss noted in an earlier column from April that the event could be “similar” to the Celtics’ “Larry Bird Night” in 1993 — with the Celtics honoring the legendary forward with a nearly 90-minute retirement ceremony at the Boston Garden.
With the highlight of that Bird tribute involving former foe Magic Johnson heaping praise on his longtime rival (while wearing a Celtics T-shirt under his Lakers warmup jacket), it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see longtime Brady rivals like Peyton Manning make an appearance on June 12.
The Patriots announced that NBC’s Mike Tirico will host the ceremony, which will start at 7 p.m. and will feature “many former teammates and special guests”.
Brady will become the first Patriots player to have the four-year wait period waived for his entry to the Patriots Hall of Fame, with the former quarterback set to become the 35th person inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame.
