Patriots fans saw their past, present, (and ideally), their future all encapsulated into one photo on Sunday morning.

New Patriots QB Drake Maye was in Los Angeles over the weekend as part of the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere event, with the No. 3 overall pick and several other top players in the 2024 NFL Draft class later taking part in a sit-down meeting with Tom Brady, Fanatics owner Michael Rubin, and rapper Jay-Z.

Brady, who won his first Super Bowl title with the Patriots before Maye was even born (Aug. 30, 2022), snapped a picture with the 21-year-old signal caller following Sunday’s meet-up.

“Seriously awesome morning with Tom Brady, Jay-Z and our Fanatics NFL rookies discussing sports and business!” Rubin posted on Instagram on Sunday of the event. “Tommy and Jay thank you so much for the invaluable advice and knowledge you shared — this was such an incredible opportunity for these rooks before they take their first snap. Big things ahead for this group — can’t wait to watch you all crush it on and off the field!”

Maye may not be Brady’s direct successor in Foxborough, with New England turning to Cam Newton, Mac Jones, and Bailey Zappe as starting QBs since the 2020 season. But the former UNC product is a tantalizing prospect whose high ceiling offers hope that New England can develop another franchise fixture under center.

In a far-from-surprising revelation, Maye expressed his admiration for Brady during his first press conference with the Patriots last month.

“Tom Brady’s the GOAT. It’s easy to say that. He’s the best to ever play this game,” Maye said. “I’m not going to be Tom Brady. I’m just going to try to be Drake Maye. And from there, just try to learn from him, get to know him a little bit. And other than that, just try to soak it up and be a sponge and try to learn all I can from him. He’s the man in that town.”
