New Patriots RB Antonio Gibson has relatable reaction to Boston weather

The Georgia-native arrived in New England just in time for a chilly spring.

Newly-signed Patriots running back Antonio Gibson is settling into life in New England, but hasn’t had the warmest welcome.

That is, in terms of weather.

As the Patriots open their offseason programs Monday, temperatures in Boston dipped as low as 36 degrees. Some parts of the state saw snow over the weekend, which isn’t unheard of to locals.

Gibson, a Georgia-native, took to Instagram Sunday to express his bewilderment at the cold-snap, however.

“Yeah, Boston a little different. I’m out here long sleeve with a sweater on, still freezing,” the running back said. “Folks walking around in skirts, shorts. No beanie, hoodies, nothing!”

Despite spending the first four seasons of his career playing for the Commanders, Gibson appears to still be getting used to weather in the Northeast. The 2020 third round pick signed a three-year, $11.25 million contract with the Patriots, giving him plenty of time to build his hoodie and beanie collection.

Gibson likely reported to Foxborough Monday for Phase One of the team’s offseason. This phase, the first of three, is limited to conditioning and meetings and will be the first chance new head coach Jerod Mayo has to work with players.

Other players expected to report to Gillette on Monday are freshly-signed quarterback Jacoby Brissett and Hunter Henry, who have offseason workout bonuses inked into their new contracts.

Per the NFL Player’s Association’s 2020 Collective Bargaining Agreement, players are permitted to spend 90 minutes on the field and a total of two hours at the facilities each day during Phase One.
