Bill Belichick may not have a job right now, but he seems to be keeping busy in the world of football.

The former Patriots head coach visited the University of Washington this weekend to talk at the school’s “Be a P.R.O Coaching Clinic” as a keynote speaker.

Following Belichick’s presentation, which was part of a private event and not covered by reporters, the 71-year-old walked through the Huskies’ Saturday spring practice. He dressed the part by wearing a gray UW hoodie and cap.

Belichick probably wasn’t expecting to be wearing a college program’s gear as a guest in the months following his departure from New England in January.

Nevertheless, Belichick has several ties to Washington’s program. The Huskies’ head coach, Jedd Fisch, was the Patriots’ quarterbacks coach in 2020.

Steve Belichick, the elder Belichick’s son, was named Washington’s defensive coordinator in February. The younger Belichick coached various defensive positions on New England’s staff beginning in 2012.

During a Huskies press conference last month, the 37-year-old Belichick took a jab at his dad’s current unemployment, saying “I got a job and he doesn’t” when asked about the similarities and differences between him and his father.

He’s not wrong, but his dad is keeping busy after failing to be hired by a NFL team this past head coach hiring cycle.

On top of speaking at Saturday’s clinic, Belichick is “pursuing” a TV gig, according to his son. He’s also reportedly going to write a book.

While Belichick may not be a coach right now for the first time since the 1970s, he will almost certainly re-enter the NFL head coach conversation next offseason. Several teams will inevitably let go of their skippers before the calendar flips to 2025 and immediately reach out to the second-winningest head coach in league history in hopes that he’ll take their place.
