K.J. Osborn arrived at One Patriot Place on Tuesday ready to get to work.

The former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, who was added to the Patriots on Sunday during the opening week of free agency, signed a one-year, $4 million contract.

During his first official visit to New England, Osborn met with head coach Jerod Mayo, who he described as a “real down to earth guy.”

“It felt like home,” the 26-year-old wideout said about his new team on Wednesday. “They had so much hospitality. Felt all of the love.”

Osborn, a 2020 fifth-round pick by the Vikings, averaged  52.7 receptions, 615 receiving yards, and five touchdowns per season over the past three seasons. While his production has been steady, he competed for targets against Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and TJ Hockenson.

Now, he joins a receiving depth chart with Kendrick Bourne, DeMario Douglas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Tyquan Thornton. Where Osborn fits into that lineup remains to be seen, especially as the Patriots likely prepare to add depth in the upcoming draft.

“At the end of the day, it’s where the team best needs me to win,” the 5-foot-11 receiver said. “I’m just more so excited for the opportunity. I’m just a team guy.”

When asked if the team’s potentially precarious quarterback situation affected his decision to sign with the Patriots, Osborn admitted it gave him pause. However, after speaking with Mayo he remains confident in the organization’s leadership.

“I trust them that everything will take care of itself,” Osborn said about his new head coach and de facto GM Eliot Wolf. “I’m hungry, so I’m ready to get to it.”
