John Cena intrigued by possible collaboration with Tom Brady in ‘buddy comedy’
"Tom, if you’re listening, I’m available, and I take all calls – especially from Tom Brady."
Tom Brady has made his fair share of cameos in recent years, and now another local star is hoping he expands his repertoire.
West Newbury native John Cena, known for both his wrestling and acting, made his pitch to Brady on Wednesday.
Cena, speaking with hosts Ryan Clark and Christine Williamson on ESPN’s “First Take” about his film “Ricky Stanicky,” said he’d love to collaborate with Brady in a movie.
“Tom’s a very creative guy,” Cena said. “He’s not only an accomplished athlete, I sense maybe a buddy comedy on the horizon.”
Brady has seen action in “Ted 2,” “Entourage,” “The Simpsons,” “80 for Brady,” and more, most recently appearing a Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial.
Clark noted, lightheartedly, that Brady followed Cena to Florida and “wanted a piece” of his lifestyle. Cena leaned into the bit, but he did appear excited about a potential partnership.
“Fan fiction’s a strong thing,” Cena joked, before turning to the camera and giving his spiel.
“Tom, if you’re listening, I’m available, and I take all calls – especially from Tom Brady,” Cena said.
