Matthew Judon reveals which QB he wants the Patriots to take with the No. 3 pick
Judon told Cam Newton who he would pick if he were running the Patriots.
Matthew Judon sometimes refers to himself as “GM Judy.”
Last month, he asked his Twitter followers to compile a list of the top-50 available NFL free agents for him.
During a recent appearance on Cam Newton’s 4th-and-1 podcast, Newton asked Judon which player he would take with the No. 3 overall pick if he were the Patriots’ general manager.
“I’m going to go best available, but I would go Jayden (Daniels),” Judon said. “If he’s there, I’d take him. He won the Heisman. You can see the arm talent, you can see the leg talent.”
“I feel like you have to have a mobile quarterback now in today’s game when things break down for him to get out of sticky situations,” Judon continued. “So I’m saying if he’s there I’m taking him but best available honestly.”
Last week, Judon was asked if he felt Mac Jones could still fit within the Patriots offense.
“Honestly, I don’t care. I mean, it sounds terrible,” Judon said during an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Felger and Mazz. “I just want our offense to score points. Our offense to score points, sustain drives, and regardless if that’s Mac/Zappe, somebody else, I don’t care.”
New England tied for the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL last season, en route to a 4-13 record.
Newton asked Judon what the Patriots need to do to get back to their winning ways.
“I think it’s never going to be the New England of old,” Judon said. “There’s no other Tom Brady. I think what he did with that team and what everybody did over there, Bill, is special.
“But, to get back into contention? We need to win games, score points, play better defense, keep people off the board,” Judon added. “Everybody needs to get better. It’s not just one person. You can’t put the blame on one person when we lost how we lost.”
