Patriots players seem to be excited about their team’s latest coaching hire.

Following the news that former Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower is returning to Foxborough as New England’s linebackers coach, players took to social media to show their support for the move.

Patriots linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley took to both Instagram and X to share his congratulations for Hightower.

Bentley and Hightower shared time together as Patriots teammates between the 2018 and 2019 seasons and again in 2021 (Hightower did not play in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic). The pair won Super Bowl LIII against the Rams in 2018-19.

Uche played alongside Hightower in his sophomore season (2021).

Another member of the Patriots’ defense extended his enthusiasm about the hire on X. Defensive lineman Deatrich Wise, who was Hightower’s teammate for four seasons, reacted with a “Let’s Goooo!” following the news.

Though he was a defensive player and is now a defensive coach, it’s clear Hightower’s presence on past Patriots teams was felt even on the offensive side. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson expressed his joy despite being teammates with Hightower for one season on opposite sides of the ball.
