Springer, who turns 35 in February, worked as the Rams’ assistant special teams coach in 2023. He has two years of NFL experience working on Sean McVay’s staff in Los Angeles.
Prior to that, Springer spent eight seasons coaching at the collegiate level, including stints with Marshall, Arizona, and Texas A&M.
He’s the latest to be tapped to join Mayo in New England. In addition, the Patriots are also expected to promote defensive line coach Demarcus Covington to defensive coordinator.
Mayo still has another prominent job opening left to fill: offensive coordinator, with a plethora of names linked to the position.
