The Patriots have interviewed Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown and Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson for their open offensive coordinator position, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.

Brown, 37, began his coaching career as a strength and conditioning coach at Georgia in 2011. He coached running backs at multiple colleges including Wisconsin, Miami, and South Carolina, before jumping to the NFL with the Rams in 2020.

Brown was named assistant head coach after his first year with the Rams. Los Angeles won the Super Bowl in 2021. Sony Michel and Darrell Henderson rushed for a combined 1,533 yards and nine touchdowns that season after Cam Akers tore his achilles in Week 1.

The Panthers tied with the Patriots for the lowest-scoring offense in the NFL this season.

Johnson just finished his first year as Texans quarterbacks coach after coaching fellowships with the 49ers and Colts. He stayed on with the Colts as a quality control coach before the Vikings hired him as assistant quarterbacks coach.

Houston experienced a breakout season, led by quarterback C.J. Stroud, this season. The Texans went from 3-13 in 2022 to 10-7 with a playoff appearance in 2023. Stroud, who was selected No. 2 overall in last year’s draft, threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns against five interceptions in his rookie season.

So far, the Patriots have reportedly interviewed Rams tight ends coach Nick Caley, Rams quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson, Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher, and Shane Waldron, who was the Seahawks offensive coordinator at the time but chose to sign with the Bears.
