Patriots are reportedly trading Duron Harmon to the Lions
The Patriots have traded safety Duron Harmon to the Detroit Lions, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday afternoon.
The teams will swap late-round draft picks, according to Rapoport.
Harmon joins linebacker Jamie Collins and defensive end Trey Flowers as ex-Patriots to reunite with Lions coach Matt Patricia, who served as New England’s defensive coordinator for six seasons. Defensive tackle Danny Shelton also reportedly plans to leave the Patriots for the Lions, though Shelton never played for Patricia.
By trading Harmon, the Patriots save $4.5 million in cap room.
After the Patriots drafted him 91st overall in 2013, Harmon has spent all six seasons of his NFL career in New England, winning three Super Bowl titles. He played alongside fellow Rutgers products, Devin and Jason McCourty, with whom he shared close relationships.
