Brady was 31-for-45 and threw for 249 yards in the game. When asked specifically about the game-opening, 16-play touchdown drive that took eight minutes off the clock, Brady said he was satisfied with the execution.
“It was a good balance,” Brady said in the postgame press conference. “Good execution is what you need to sustain long drives, and that was a good one to start the game.”
As for the Patriots defense, Brady continued to applaud the unit for their performance.
“They’re playing great, playing good football. They’re doing a good job, covering the rush, stopping the run, making critical plays. It’s awesome to watch.”
The defensive performance was so menacing, Jets QB Sam Darnold was caught on the sideline saying that he was “seeing ghosts”. Brady was asked about his fellow quarterback.
“I think our offense has plenty to worry about,” he responded. “I’m not worried about what they think. Our offense has got to do a better job and that’s what I’m thinking about.”
One player he praised was rookie Jakobi Meyers, who had 5 catches for 47 yards in the game.
“He’s done a good job, taking advantage of his opportunity,” Brady said. “I keep throwing it to him, he does a good job of getting open.”
