Darrelle Revis called Stephon Gilmore ‘by far’ the best corner in the NFL
"I appreciate that from him," Gilmore responded.
Darrelle Revis knows a thing or two about playing cornerback in the NFL, and he believes Stephon Gilmore is “by far” the best at his craft right now.
Though he spelled Gilmore’s first name wrong, the former Patriot called Gilmore a “shutdown” player and “#numberone” at his position.
Stephen Gilmore by far is the best corner in the game right now. #shutdown #numberone

Gilmore responded to Revis’s comment, noting that the admiration is mutual.
“I appreciate it,” Gilmore said, according to Yahoo! Sports. “He was one of the best at one point. He knows what (an elite cornerback) looks like. I appreciate that from him.”
Revis wasn’t the only NFL legend to highlight Gilmore’s body of work after his performance Thursday night. Donté Stallworth said he’s “technically sound,” and Thurman Thomas questioned the New York Giants’ decision to throw the ball in Gilmore’s direction.
Stephon Gilmore is one of the most technically sound corners I’ve ever watched in the NFL. and I’ve been watching since I was 8 years old (1988) @BumpNrunGilm0re

Gilmore, who is in his eighth season overall and third with the Patriots, has two interceptions, 22 tackles, and eight passes defended on the season. On Thursday, in the Patriots’ 35-14 win, he paved the way for a John Simon interception in the first quarter and got one of his own in the third.
