Watch the Patriots’ 4 interceptions against the Buffalo Bills
"They got to make up some type of award to give J.C."
The Patriots offense was quiet the bulk of the way in Sunday’s 16-10 win over the Buffalo Bills, but the defense kept New England in the game and ultimately made the difference.
Despite allowing their first offensive touchdown of the season, the Patriots registered five sacks and kept the Bills from scoring in the final 25-plus minutes. They also intercepted four passes, three off starter Josh Allen and one off backup Matt Barkley, who entered when Allen left after a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Devin McCourty had one pick early, J.C. Jackson added an interception late in the first quarter and another late in the third — complementing his blocked punt that led to a Matthew Slater touchdown as part of a career day — and Jamie Collins sealed the win late with one of his own.
“They got to make up some type of award to give J.C.,” McCourty told reporters. “I don’t know if it’s special teams, defensive player of the week, but they need to do some type of combo. He’s another guy that when he gets on the field, somehow, he makes a play.”
Here’s a look at all four interceptions:
Devin McCourty started it off.
The longtime safety went airborne and snared a pass intended for John Brown on the Bills’ first drive of the game. He also ran it back 19 yards, setting the Patriots up near midfield and paving the way for a seven-play, 50-yard touchdown drive.
McCourty became the first player since Minnesota Vikings defensive back Brian Russell in 2003 to notch an interception in each of his first four games of the season.

J.C. Jackson kept it going (twice).
Six-plus minutes after his blocked punt, Jackson soared in and corralled a deep ball from Allen late in the first quarter.

Late in the third, he snagged a pass along the sideline intended for Zay Jones, managing to keep his feet in bounds and give the Patriots the ball back, up 13-10, with prime field position.

“Once I seen the ball, I just said, ‘It’s mine,’ so I went up and got it,” Jackson told reporters.
Kyle Van Noy and Jamie Collins took care of the rest.
Finally, with the Bills facing a third and 10 from the Patriots’ 38, Kyle Van Noy hit Barkley and forced him into a high and wobbly throw. Collins took care of the rest, camping out under the ball and making the easy catch to preserve the win.

“Jamie’s been doing a great job for us all year,” coach Bill Belichick told reporters. “With (Dont’a Hightower) out today, he took over the signal-calling responsibilities. Whatever we’ve asked him to do, he’s done a great job of it.”
