Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski missed his fourth extra point of the season Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills, exceeding his total for extra points missed over the past two regular seasons.

Gostkowski was blunt in his assessment of his performance through four games.

“I’m just not very consistent right now,” said the 35-year-old, who is in his 14th season after getting drafted by the Patriots in 2006.

Asked if something is off within the field-goal operation, Gostkowski accepted full responsibility: “It’s me.”

The Patriots released punter Ryan Allen, Gostkowski’s holder and good friend, during training camp, electing to move forward with rookie Jake Bailey.

Coach Bill Belichick wouldn’t say whether he is concerned about Gostkowski, nor would he say if the team plans to bring in another kicker to offer some competition.

“I think we’re all going to look back at this game and say there are things we can improve,” Belichick said. “Certainly I know I feel that way. We have a hardworking team. I have a lot of confidence in our team. We’ll just keep working hard to do things better [and] do them better next week.”

Gostkowski’s career extra-point conversion rate is 98.5, including nine straight seasons of 100 percent accuracy from 2008-15.
