Julian Edelman and Rex Burkhead will reportedly both be on the field when the Patriots face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The wide receiver Edelman, who injured his chest in a win over the New York Jets, may end up playing in a limited role. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said his snaps will “hinge on how he feels,” and he may take “less than his full atonement.”

That news came early this morning, and Rapoport also said in the same tweet that the running back Burkhead is a game-time decision. Later in the morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Burkhead is expected to play despite practicing on a limited basis this week due to a foot injury.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss noted that the Patriots ran 10 first-half plays with two running backs on the field at the same time against the Jets.

Reiss also pointed out that Edelman, Burkhead, tight end Matt LaCosse, linebacker Dont’a Hightower, left tackle Marshall Newhouse, safety Nate Ebner and defensive end Michael Bennett were all expected to make the trip to Buffalo.
