Bill Cowher on Antonio Brown: ‘His actions scream for help’
"He doesn't need a football field. He needs counseling."
Bill Cowher and Nate Burleson, speaking on The NFL Today on Sunday, said they believe former Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown needs help.
The former player and head coach, Cowher, and player, Burleson, shared their opinions after Brown’s latest tweet, in which he indicated that he doesn’t plan to play in the NFL again.

Cowher said Brown’s actions clearly indicate that an intervention is needed. He believes Brown has surrounded himself with a “bunch of enablers,” noting that if those enablers really care about him, they should tell him he needs help.
“His actions scream for help,” Cowher said. “Tell him what he needs to hear, not what he wants to hear. He doesn’t need a football field. He needs counseling.”

Burleson agreed that there’s nothing at all wrong with asking for help.
“As a player, I’ve been to therapy,” Burleson said. “Removed from the game, I’ve been to therapy. If you need it, I feel like he should seek after it.”
He pointed out that last week he called Brown a genius in regard to how he was able to leave Pittsburgh, go to Oakland, leave Oakland, and land with the Patriots. Now, Burleson said, he’s “burning bridges” everywhere he goes and it’s “the last thing from genius.”
“It is very self-destructive behavior, which is unfortunate,” Burleson said. “The world is going to provide obstacles in front of us. You don’t need to provide them yourself.”
