Melvin Gordon’s holdout is threatening to run into the 2019 NFL season. The Chargers and Gordon have yet to reach an agreement regarding a re-working of the running back’s contract. Gordon was recently told by the team he would not receive an extension this year and was free to pursue a trade.  The tense situation has led to Gordon airing out his thoughts about his critics via Twitter Sunday night.

A vocal of supporter of Gordon’s is his former University of Wisconsin teammate James White. White went to Twitter to show his support for the star running back and his holdout.

Gordon and White played three seasons together at Wisconsin, attending the school together from 2011 to 2014. White was drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Patriots, and Gordon was selected a year later in the first round of the 2015 draft by the Chargers.

Gordon rushed for 885 yards in 12 games last season, bringing his career total to 3,628 yards in 55 games.

Rumors have already begun regarding next steps for the Chargers’ disgruntled running back, with his Instagram activity being on the forefront of some new discussions about his next destination.

The Chargers will be opening their 2019 season against the Indianapolis Colts.
