Earlier this year, Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen attended the prestigious Met Gala held annually in New York City. However, Brady wasn’t the only NFL star in attendance that night, with New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley also making an appearance. And in an interview with NJ.com Barkley revealed how Brady’s words to him that evening motivated him. “It’s great to do it for one season, but can you do it for five? Can you do it for 10?” Barkley remembers Brady saying to him. “I’m standing there at the Met Gala ready to run through a brick wall.”

Barkley was the 2nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He had an electric rookie season for the New York Giants, rushing for 1,307 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.

Barkley went on to praise the Patriots quarterback and discuss what a surreal moment it was for him to talk with Brady.

“Sometimes you take it for granted,” Barkley said, “but to able to talk to legends that you’ve been watching for a very long time?…You don’t really take the time to cherish it. You are so caught up in the moment. Sometimes, you have to take a step back.”

Barkley and Brady are set to face in the final week of the preseason Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. However, both players are unlikely to see the field, as they both prepare for the start of the NFL regular season next week.
