Morning sports update: Kyle Van Noy trolled ‘Felger & Mazz’ in tweet after winning award
The Patriots linebacker has never shied away from his critics.
The Red Sox defeated the Rockies on Tuesday night in Colorado, 10-6. The game was highlighted by a towering home run from Jackie Bradley Jr., whose second-inning shot traveled an astounding 478 feet.

Kyle Van Noy reminded Felger & Mazz of his new award: Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy has never been afraid to engage with his critics, and has continued to troll 98.5 “The Sports Hub” radio hosts Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti.
The root of Van Noy’s issue was comments made by Felger and Massarotti on their show in 2018.
“Oh last year he sucked,” Massarotti said. “Please. And he sucked worse the year before. It was degrees of suck.”
“To me, it’s personal,” added Felger. “I’ve never met him, but every time he opens his mouth I’m like, ‘You are a tool!’ You are an ass. Every time I hear him talk I’m like, ‘Where did that attitude come from?’ You suck. And if it wasn’t for this team you’d be covering punts in Detroit. You suck. Where do you get that attitude from?”
Van Noy responded shortly afterward in 2018.
“Me, honestly, I don’t really care if anybody ever says I’m a bad player, because everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” Van Noy told NESN’s Doug Kyed. “But once you come at my character, that’s what I got an issue with. Especially when I’ve never met you. Because it’s like, I know those two guys wouldn’t say that to my face because then they wouldn’t like what would be coming for them-type-of-deal.”
Flashing forward to Tuesday night, Van Noy was named the recipient of the 2019 Ron Burton Community Service Award, which the Patriots announced on Twitter. Van Noy quote-tweeted the announcement, thanking the Kraft and Burton families. He also included a hashtag: #felgerandmazz. It was undoubtedly a reference to their previous comments.
