Allen has played in every game for the Patriots since 2013 when he joined the team as an undrafted free agent. He made 64 punts for 2,885 yards and 45.1 yards per punt last season.
Known as an excellent situational punter, Allen had one of his best games in Super Bowl 53, landing three punts inside the Rams’ 10-yard line.
That was his finish to a year when the team decided to give him some competition in training camp with big-legged rookie Corey Bojorquez. Bojorquez impressed, but Allen won the right to keep his job. It was a reverse situation to the way he initially won it, beating out veteran Zoltan Mesko in his first camp in 2013.
Allen has good chemistry and plenty of game experience with kicker Stephen Gostkowski, long-snapper Joe Cardona and special teams captain and gunner Matthew Slater. Gostkowski remains a free agent, but Allen will be back with Cardona and Slater in 2019.
