Jaguars defensive lineman doesn’t think Julian Edelman should’ve won Super Bowl MVP
"No respect for the masterpiece on defense!"
Tom Brady was thrilled for Julian Edelman to win Super Bowl MVP, but not everyone agreed with the decision.
Jaguars defensive lineman Calais Campbell, examining the Patriots’ performance on defense in the win over the Rams, tweeted that there was “no respect for the masterpiece on defense!”
The offense only scores 13 points and they give MVP to Edelman but the D only gave up 3 points and Gilmore had forced a fumble, a int, 3 PBUs and 5 Tackles!?! Smh no respect for the masterpiece on Defense!

The Patriots were indeed dominant on defense, holding one of the NFL’s most prolific offenses to just a field goal. The Rams became the first team since the Dolphins in Super Bowl VI to fail to score a touchdown in the NFL’s biggest game.
Central in that performance was New England cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who was among the team leaders in tackles, while recording a game-high three pass break-ups. Gilmore also recorded a crucial fourth-quarter interception.
Ultimately, the award went to Edelman. The 32-year-old hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards.
Historically, defenders have been awarded MVP 10 times in 53 Super Bowls. The last example was in 2016, when Broncos pass rusher Von Miller won.
