The NFL had trouble deciding if this Patriots play was a fumble or an interception
The call went back and forth.
With the Patriots driving for what looked like another touchdown, Tom Brady appeared to find Rob Gronkowski near the Colts’ goal line.
Yet the play ended with the Colts having possession of the ball. Exactly how that happened was where the confusion began from a stat perspective.
Initially, the play was ruled an interception:

After a few moments, it was changed to a catch and fumble by Gronkowski:
Scratch that. Gronkowski’s now has been ruled a fumble. https://t.co/lk6w6ut7y9

The league then changed the ruling again, back to an interception for Brady:
They have now changed the fumble by Gronk into an INT by Brady. I disagree. #Patriots

The net result remained the same (Indianapolis gained possession of the ball). Still, the bizarre confusion over the stat changes briefly caused havoc in the world of fantasy football.
