Rob Gronkowski addressed his brother’s recent comments on WEEI
"The frustration comes from the aspect of the losses."
Rob Gronkowski says his brother Chris doesn’t speak for him.
“And he knows he doesn’t,” Gronkowski told reporters during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
The Patriots tight end said he had no prior knowledge of his 31-year-old brother’s interview Tuesday on WEEI. During the appearance, Chris said he could tell his younger brother was “super frustrated” that his fellow receivers weren’t getting open and talked at length about the discordant offseason between the 29-year-old and the Patriots.
“The frustration comes from the aspect of the losses,” Gronkowski said Wednesday, adding that the 1-2 team needs to get “back on track” ahead of Sunday’s game against the 3-0 Miami Dolphins.
Asked if he was “cool” with his current situation, the four-time All-Pro responded, “Yeah, I mean — yeah, definitely.”
Gronkowski said he assumed that Chris was supposed to be talking about his protein shaker business, which the former NFL fullback has been out promoting, during his WEEI appearance.
“He probably just got caught up a little bit, but just got to move on,” he said. “Buy his Ice Shaker, I guess.”
“[Chris] better send me a couple free ones now or something,” he joked.
During his own respective press conference Wednesday morning, Patriots coach Bill Belichick was, in typical fashion, unwilling to expound on the off-the-field matter.
“I’m focused on the Dolphins, getting ready for this week’s game. I’m not talking about last week, last month, last year, anything else,” Belichick grumbled, when asked about his star tight end’s purported frustration.
Pressed on the subject of Chris Gronkowski’s interview, the morose coach repeated himself nearly verbatim.
“I’m working on the Dolphins,” he said. “We’re getting ready to play the Dolphins. I’m not talking about last spring, last year, or anything else.”
