After signing Eric Decker last week, the Patriots continued to reshape the wide receiver depth chart with the release of a Super Bowl winner.

Malcolm Mitchell, the 25-year-old receiver who caught six passes for 70 yards in Super Bowl LI, is reportedly being released by New England, according to NFL reporter Jason La Canfora.

Mitchell missed the entire 2017 season with a knee injury, and was attempting to work his way back onto the field in 2018 training camp.

New England reportedly attempted to trade Mitchell, but couldn’t create a workable deal.

In his lone season with the Patriots as a rookie in 2016, Mitchell caught 32 passes for 401 yards and four touchdowns.
