Tom Brady got compared to a ‘baby giraffe’ by a fellow NFL quarterback

A goat or a giraffe?

Tom Brady’s speed, or lack thereof, has long since been acknowledged across the NFL, even as he’s been widely labelled the “Greatest of All Time”  or “GOAT.”

In an interview with NFL Network, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins referenced a different animal to describe Brady’s running style: a baby giraffe.

“Sometimes running around, he may look like a baby giraffe, but he finds a way in the pocket to keep his eyes down field when there is chaos around him and deliver throws time and time again, especially in big moments,” Cousins explained in a video on Brady topping the network’s best 100 players list.

Brady infamously ran a ponderous 40-yard dash at the 2000 NFL rookie combine, finishing in 5.28 seconds.

He also once noted that his mother was the only person who thought he was fast, though the Patriots quarterback has been effective at creating additional time to make throws (as Cousins noted).

In his career, Brady has proven adept at the quarterback sneak. He will be 41 at the start of the 2018 season, and he still has time to add to his 968 career rushing yards, along with 17 rushing touchdowns. Among his draft class from 2000, Brady ranks ninth in career rushing yards, outrunning former teammates J.R. Redmond (a running back) and Patrick Pass (a fullback).

Brady’s own animal comparison of his running style came in 2014, when he (jokingly) posted a video showing one of his runs spliced together with brief footage of a cheetah.
